Summer Recreational Programs

Nature days...

The summer of 2018 marked our 7th season working with Lovell’s Recreation Director Meg Dyer to bring a weekly nature experience to the summer day camp program.

We were excited to share several GLLT properties with Lovell youngsters in 2018, and engaged them in a variety of activities while hiking the trails. The Lovell Recreation kids experienced a “sensory hike,” mimicked how a beaver fells a tree (by chomping on carrots), built bird nests, explored a porcupine condominium, met trees while being blindfolded, and built gnome homes—a highlight for all.

Thanks go to our 2018 summer intern, Isaiah, important members of our local community and of the GLLT staff.

Our plan for summer 2019 is to present two nature programs for the Recreation Department participants based on age levels. We also plan to continue our Junior Docent program.

Check back here for opportunities to enroll in the programs for young students, and participate as Junior Docents. Thanks for 2018 and looking forward to 2019
