Outings with Erika

  • Greater Lovell Land Trust PO Box 225 Lovell, ME, 04051 United States (map)

This walk will involve some bushwhacking on flat ground.

Location: Kezar River Forest, Fern Drive Parking Lot

Directions: From the GLLT office in Lovell Village: Head south on Route 5 for approximately 150 feet, then turn left onto Route 93 (Lovell Road). Head south on Route 93 for 2 miles, then turn left onto Fern Drive, which is a small dirt road. Follow Fern Drive for approximately 1/2 mile, then the GLLT parking lot will be on your right. Note that Fern Drive becomes a narrow single track road after the last house, but don’t let that discourage you. Keep going a bit further and you will reach GLLT’s parking area, which is clearly marked by a sign and kiosk.

I am determined to get out of the office more this summer and invite anyone who'd like to join to come along. It's been a few years since I've been to several of the land trust trails, while I've been standing at my desk focused on the never-ending to-dos. I am rearranging my priorities, as it's equally important that I regularly get out to remind myself of the value of conservation.

Whether you want to pick my brain about the latest project, our new strategic plan, and the next big idea or prefer to talk about your latest outdoor adventure, (grand)kids, and exchange recipes, we can go where the trail and conversation lead us. And, if no one shows up, it's all good. Walking through the woods is where I do my best thinking.

I'll be flip-flopping between mornings (10 am) and late afternoons (4 pm) throughout much of the summer. Keep an eye on the enews or check our calendar at https://www.gllt.org/calendar to see where and when I will be in any given week. No need to sign up, just show up before 5 minutes past the hour. I look forward to having some company and meeting new people as the months unfold.
