Our Mission
We conserve and care for lands and waters that support wildlife, clean water, and healthy communities. By connecting people with the land and one another, we inspire conservation that responds to local and regional needs and ensures these benefits endure for generations to come.
Our Vision
We envision a future where the vibrant woods and clear waters of Western Maine continue to inspire awe, invite connection, and sustain both people and nature.
Across our region, people of all ages and abilities explore the outdoors in ways that reflect the many interests of our communities and strengthen connections to the land. People from here and away come together to care for this special place because our ties to it run deep.
Through this shared commitment—renewed with each generation—our forests, waters, and wildlife remain healthy and resilient, supporting places where people live, learn, work, and play.
Our Work
The Greater Lovell Land Trust works across the Kezar Lake, Kezar River, and Cold River watersheds to conserve land, care for special places, and connect people to the natural world.
Our work brings together conservation, stewardship, and community engagement as interconnected efforts. We protect lands that matter, care for them over time, and create opportunities for people to experience, understand, and value the landscapes around them.
We do this by:
Conserving priority lands and waters through land ownership and conservation easements
Stewarding conserved lands to support habitat health, climate resilience, and safe public access
Connecting people to place through trails, programs, and community partnerships
How We Work
We believe lasting conservation depends on strong relationships and shared purpose.
We work closely with:
Landowners and families exploring conservation options
Local communities and partner organizations
Volunteers, supporters, and visitors of all ages
Together, we are building a future where conservation reflects both ecological priorities and community values—ensuring the land remains meaningful, accessible, and cared for over time.
Why It Matters
The lands we protect today will shape the future of our communities for decades to come.
By conserving land, caring for it responsibly, and fostering meaningful connections between people and place, we help ensure that Western Maine remains a place where:
Forests and wildlife thrive
Waters stay clean and resilient
People feel a lasting connection to the natural world
